Through gates of splendour....

Karena Claire Mackay
15.11.61 – 12.02.10

Ps 139:16 “All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be...”

Karena died at 8.00pm this evening - she went confidently into the presence of her saviour, Jesus.

I’m so privileged to have helped her on her final journey to her permanent home. She was a magnificent wife, an exceptional mum and she was my very best friend.

As a family we are totally devastated by our loss, but also full of assurance that she is with Jesus now where there is no pain, no suffering, no tears. We will see her again one day.

Appreciating your ongoing prayers for our family, and for her parents, sister and nephews for the coming days.

Funeral details will follow.

  1. Karena,
The best sister in law anybody could hope for. My heart is heavy with sadness and tears but I have memories full of the love and kindness you gave over the years as a wonderful wife, mother and sister-in-law.
In Gods arms you gently rest.
I'll never forget you Karena. xx

  3. Craig,

Thank you for sharing your heart with us here over these last weeks - a faith tempered and tested and refined by suffering shines through your words, and all the more the glory of the Christ you and your family trust in.

We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender!
    We go not forth alone against the foe;
Strong in Thy strength, safe in Thy keeping tender,
We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.

"Think of me as one at rest
For me you should not weep
I have no pain, no troubled thoughts
    For I am just asleep.
The living thinking me that was
    Is now forever still
And life goes on without me now
    As time forever will.

If your heart is heavy now
    Because I've gone away.
Dwell not long upon it friend
For none of us can stay,
Those of you who liked me
    I sincerely thank you all
And those of you that loved me
I thank you most of all."

  16. As a teen Karena looked out for me and I knew then how close she was to God. I have no doubt in my mind that she is with God. I thank God for you both and I pray he will be by your side in the weeks to come x

  17. I was searching for my name on google and this blog came up so I read about the other Karena. The only true love I've ever had was named Craig so I read on. I can only say that as I read all the wonderful things about your Karena I had to think how wonderful these words would be if I had people around me that loved and missed me like her. She sounds like a light to all around her and a daughter of the True and Living King. What a beautiful life she must have shared with you all. God Bless You from Karena Hancock in Caddo, OK. USA. I pray the good memories make you smile and that you are comforted daily by the our Father in Heaven. Please forgive the intrusion. I just wish I were the Karena these words were spoken about.
